The topic I found most interesting in this forum was the use of swap space. Of course, people are all over the board on the issue of how much to allocate.

But what I did not know is that, since the release of the Linux 2.6 kernel, you can actually tweak your "swappiness." This means that the user can tell Linux to keep more information in memory instead of writing it to the disk. This gives the user more control of application response time depending upon their needs at any particular time.
